There are a few different schools of thought on this issue. Some people feel that it is very important for deaf children to learn British Sign Language (BSL), as it will give them a way to communicate with other deaf people, and will also help them to better understand their own culture and community. Others feel that it is more important for deaf children to be taught in a mainstream school, where they will have the opportunity to learn how to speak and lipread, and will also be exposed to a wider range of experiences and viewpoints.

Personally, I think that it is important for deaf children to have the opportunity to learn BSL, as well as other communication methods. BSL can be a very valuable tool for helping deaf childrens.

Sign language, however, continues to play a significant role in the lives of many hearing-impaired youngsters. Your child’s exposure to and understanding of Deaf culture will be enriched by learning BSL so he or she can communicate with other children who use it.
